Who We Are

This website was developed as part of a research project on the cultural polarization of the American electorate, that is, the tendency for liberals and conservatives to differ not only on policies like gun control and immigration but also music, fast food, and sports. More technically, our goal is to see if lifestyle choices correlate with political alignment, using a novel method that measures the political alignment of any widely followed account on Twitter. The project is joint work between members of the Computer Science, Information Science, and Sociology Departments at Cornell University.
